Generators, Back-Up Power For Your Home

Generators used to be a necessity for people living in the remote areas of the world, where storms and high winds repeatedly blow down power cables or trees crash onto power lines, causing power cuts and the need to switch on the generator.

Such environmental circumstances suddenly plunged the household into darkness. No light, cooking facilities, hot water and worst of all our PCs immediately die.

If you worked from home it could have cost you thousands of pounds if you didn’t have back-up power with the use of a generator.

But, of course, this made perfect sense, having a back up for your electricity supply, if you lived in a remote part of the country.

That was then, up to a few years ago. Now however it seems that many people are investing in generators, people living in the most modern cities and conurbations.

Power cuts are becoming more and more common and the sale of generators has gone up 20 per cent all over the world. There are so many of us using computers at home, working from home has become a fact of life and the fact that in the near future there will be a severe shortage of electricity and power cuts will become a regular occurrence.

The day of every household having a backup power supply in the form of a generator is fast becoming a reality.

There are several types of generators, the most popular ones and most economical option is diesel powered, but they can also be powered by petrol, liquid petroleum gas or methanol.
