Reiki Symbols became an ancient alternative medicine.

Mikao Usui, a Japanese minister at a Christian seminary in Kyoto Japan, rediscovered Reiki in the 19th century. Reiki and Christianity became intertwined.

According to tradition, Usui spent 21 days fasting on a sacred mountain outside Kyoto where he received a vision incorporating four symbols that could be used to enable healing to pass to others.

He revealed how the universal life energy described in ancient Sanscrit writings, Indian Sutra and Sacred Text, could be accessed and utilized to provide hands on healing.

Dr Usi spent 14 years seeking the ability to heal and it was his belief that he might achieve this by studying Buddhism and learning both Chinese and Sanskrit to promote his research.

Tuning into the Reiki Symbols creates the ability to channel healing power.

Dr Usi died in the 1930`s having initiated 16 other people into the secret of Reiki, teaching them the Master Attunement.

One of Usui`s students Dr Clujiro Hayashi took the work further by establishing a Reiki clinic in Tokyo and began to spread the alternative medicine system of Reiki throughout the world.

Reiki practitioners believe that the body becomes ill only when the universal life force is imbalanced. The treatments therefore aim to bring balance and harmony to the physical body and treat any emotional or spiritual disorders at the same time.
