Yeast Infection
The cause of yeast infection is immense and varied but the prime cause is the act of sexual intercourse, which is enjoyed, in unprotected sex.
The most obvious symptoms of a vaginal fungus infection is the thick, white odorless discharge resembling cottage cheese that most women experience accompanied with uncomfortable itching, burning sensation and pain while urination.
The medical problem is a vaginal infection that is caused by candida albicans, which is normally found in small amounts in the vagina. In women, bacterial vaginosis is the second most common cause of inflammation of the vagina (vaginitis).
The infection is also more common after menopause due to declining estrogen levels, which thin the vaginal walls.
Yeast infection is also prone to affect the male gender. Though male health cases of this type are not talked about, it certainly exists, mainly contracted through the means of sexual intercourse and prolonged antibiotic use. Although the penile yeast infection is not a sexually transmitted disease, it is possible to pass it back and forth between sexual partners.
The infection also exists in infants. The second most common form of infant fungal infection is oral thrush in the infant's mouth. An infant candida infection is most likely to develop in a sickly child. There is nothing sadder than an infant in distress, and an infant in this condition is the same.
The baby yeast infection is passed back and forth between the mother and the baby, and it gets very hard to get rid of it, especially since those yeast infections are getting more and more resistant to the usual prescribed medications.
Another cause of child "thrush" is children who wear diapers (nappies). In their instance the cause of the problem is the restriction of airflow caused by a diaper (nappy) that is too tight.
One of the most horrible places to get a candida is when it is transmitted to the mouth, oral thrush; it commonly causes white patches inside of the cheeks and back of the throat.
Recurring yeast infections or chronic fungal infection is not only annoying but it can also put you at risk of other illnesses like diabetes and chronic urinary tract infection. Perhaps the most severe form of a recurring infection is that which affects the bowels.
Unless the roots problem of the yeast infection is cured you could experience flair ups down the road once the dormant yeast cells have the right environment to become active again.
