Easy Way To

Fast, Easy , Organic Way To Eradicate The Garden Weed

Problem Weeds

Garden weeds can be more of a problem than Pests & Bugs or plant disease

And are often more difficult to eradicate completely.

I should know, my father in his enthusiasim for growing vegetables ordered a lorry load of horse manure.

He dug it deep into the soil and was rewarded with a fantastic crop of potatoes, onions, carrots, lettuce, green-beans and other vegetables.

Unfortunately, wherever the horse manure came from, we found out that it was also full of the seeds of every garden weed, some of them very attractive, you could think of.

Did we have a job on our hands!!

Until we discovered Weed-Aside

There are two types of Garden weeds, the perennial and the annual.

Perennial Garden Weeds

Once established, perennial garden weeds can keep re-growing from the deep roots, or fragments of roots that you missed when weeding last year.

Annual Weeds

Annual Garden Weeds produce a lot of seed or can flower and seed before you are aware that they are there. Seeds of annual weeds can survive for years in the soil, so that every time the soil is disturbed a fresh crop of seedlings will appear.

Controlling Weeds

A weed is simply a plant that does not fit in with our image of what our garden is to be. So we remove it, but that does not mean that is of no use to us

The amount of garden-weeds we receive is a comforting of the health of the land around us. If your garden is near to fields prepare for nettles and couch grass.

We need weeds as the basis of our recycling system, they are a vital source of our compost material. Nettles and chickweed make brilliant compost, clovers store valuable nitrogen in their roots, enriching the soil.

Make sure they rot down well at a temperature to ensure that the seeds are killed of. If you can only compost a small amount I`m afraid you will have to burn the rest.

Weeding is not just a matter of removing unwanted plants, it is a process of collecting essential nutrients.

Weeds need never go to waste (in a perfect world), wild plants can be an excellent source of human nutrition.

Summer salads can be gathered out of the garden, without touching your beautiful lettuce or tomatoes.

Chickweed, young dandelion leaves, sorrel, fat hen seedlings, lamb`s lettuce, young hawthorn or beech leaves can all be added to the dining table. A wide variety can be added to soups or be cooked as vegetables, such as nettles and ground elder. (I think we have another idea for a Web-Site)

Getting a bit carried away there, better get back to controlling the weeds around your flowering plants.

When we weed we are not merely tidying things up, we are recycling plant material. The weeds cannot remain where they are, because they rob the soil of nutrients needed for the plants you have chosen, and will choke and smother the tenderer cultivated varieties.

If our weeds are for recycling, then you must leave the plants in a condition where they can be used. If the plants are covered with poison they cannot be used to feed the land or people.

Many garden centres and shops give you the impression that we need an armoury of chemicals to deal with weeds. Weed-Aside is non chemical, taking care of your garden and chosen plants.

Garden weeding is not as daunting as you may think, especially if you know how to go about it, and if you plant your garden to make it as labour saving as possible.

By far the easiest way to weed the ground is to use a hoe. In the vegetable garden this is easy enough as the vegetables are uniform and planted in rows. You can hoe around shrubs in their beds, and a hoe can be used carefully between herbaceous plants, just make sure you do not disturb the roots.

All hoed weeds must be immediately removed to the compost heap or you will have only re-distributed the seeds.

Try to have as little bare ground as possible, as nature will soon find a way to put something in it, namely weeds.

Mulch is the obvious way to deal with areas that would otherwise need constant weeding. The most effective mulch against perennial garden- weeds is Weed Barrier Mat it cuts weeding time, retains moisture in soil and produces bigger harvests. It is useful for controlling weeds around trees or shrub beds.

Sometimes hand weeding is bound to be necessary, around bulbs or in rock gardens or where the hoe cannot reach. Hand weeding is best done literally by hand with a garden hand fork to help with the deep rooted species.

Gardeners faced with a new patch of land, or a garden quite overgrown with perennial weeds will need you to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in with a good garden fork or a good dose of Weed-Aside the non-chemical herbicidal soap that gets rid of weeds fast.

A strange tip from John Smith in Warickshire England ( a lovely part of the country, it`s where shakespeare came from ) well he says talk to your weeds and ask them to stay away from your lovely cultivated plants. I haven`t tried it yet i`ll let you know if it works.
